This is my dedication sketch to Ian Curtis, the lead singer of Joy Division (most famed song is ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’). He ended his own life on May 18th of 1980. I did the best I could in what little time I could but I must say that this picture does him no justice, there is no way I could capture all his greatness and emotion in a simple sketch. He left us too soon. He knew pain and depression very well, and it’s a shame it got to him so deeply. Without him, post-punk would never have been what it is, or even alternative music. The lyrics on the right are to “Leaders of Men”
